On January 14th, information on Tesla's official website revealed that the newly implemented overstay fee policy for superchargers across mainland China is now in force. When the utilization rate of charging stations at a particular site hits 100%, vehicle owners who fail to vacate the spot within 20 minutes after their car is fully charged or reaches the pre - set charging limit will incur an overstay fee. This fee is set at 6.4 yuan per minute, starting from the moment the charging process is completed, and it will be calculated based on the actual duration of overstay. Conversely, if the owner moves their vehicle within the 20 - minute grace period, no fee will be levied. Tesla clarified that this initiative is designed to enhance the efficiency of supercharger resource allocation, rather than being a profit - driven measure. Additionally, the system will automatically exempt vehicle owners from the overstay fee for their first offense.
