On January 13, the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid successfully executed the electricity bill settlement for a pilot charging station's grid-connected discharge. Consequently, Mr. Li, an owner of a new energy vehicle, received approximately 15 yuan from a single transaction. A month ago, during peak electricity demand hours, he discharged roughly 20 kilowatt-hours of electricity back into the grid, marking a pioneering achievement in electricity bill settlement for such activities in Shenzhen.
As one of China's inaugural pilot cities for the extensive deployment of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) interaction, Shenzhen's V2G initiative presents an innovative approach to reconcile the rapid proliferation of new energy vehicles with the distribution network's capacity constraints. The official in charge at the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid remarked that by leveraging price signals to incentivize new energy vehicle owners to charge during off-peak periods and discharge during peak hours, the latent potential of these vehicles as 'mobile energy storage units' can be harnessed, thereby mitigating local power supply strains.
Shenzhen is committed to further advancing the widespread adoption of V2G interaction to bolster the development of a novel power system infrastructure.
