On the evening of January 5, Xiaomi released a statement to refute the false allegations concerning the Xiaomi YU7. According to Xiaomi, on December 28, an electric tailgate malfunctioned temporarily and failed to open when a car owner in Jiangxi province took delivery of the new vehicle. Following an inspection by the dealership, the trunk was successfully opened using an external button. It was determined that the issue had nothing to do with the door's mechanical latch. Earlier reports, which claimed that 'the mechanical latches of all four doors malfunctioned, preventing the other doors from being opened,' were completely untrue.
Furthermore, Ms. Xiong from Nanchang, who had reserved a Xiaomi YU7 for her daughter six months in advance, also faced a situation where the trunk wouldn't open when she went to pick up the vehicle on December 28. Despite attempts by the staff to use the emergency handle, they were unable to resolve the issue.
