On January 3, reports emerged that at the Choco SEV (Swapping Electric Vehicle) Ecosystem Conference held at the end of 2024, CATL made a public announcement about its foray into the battery - swapping sector. A year on from that announcement, CATL has shared its accomplishments in the construction of battery - swap stations.

Data indicates that in the past year, CATL's Choco SEV and Qiji SEV have constructed 1,020 and 305 battery - swap stations respectively. Choco SEV is mainly oriented towards the passenger vehicle market, whereas Qiji SEV focuses on the heavy - duty truck segment.

CATL has stated that by 2026, it aims to have constructed a total of nearly 4,000 battery - swap stations. In detail, Choco SEV will set up over 3,000 battery - swap stations across more than 140 cities. It will also kick off the construction of a highway network, with a long - term ambition of having 30,000 stations, and open up opportunities for franchising. At the same time, Qiji SEV plans to have 900 battery - swap stations in place by 2026. It will expand its main routes to encompass the "five horizontal and five vertical" highways and strive to establish an "eight horizontal and ten vertical" green network that covers 80% of the country's main - route transportation capacity by 2030.
