Xiaomi Automobile is geared up to introduce four new car models in 2026. These will encompass a refreshed version of the SU7, an executive variant of the SU7, as well as two extended-range SUVs. Notably, among these offerings, the extended-range seven-seater SUV, internally codenamed 'Kunlun,' is strategically positioned to compete with the likes of the Li Auto L9 and Aito M9. It boasts an all-electric driving range spanning from 400 to 500 kilometers.

Although several automakers have already made their foray into the extended-range vehicle market and sales growth has shown signs of deceleration, extended-range technology still stands out as the optimal solution for mitigating range anxiety. Soochow Securities projects that the market penetration rate of extended-range vehicles could soar to between 10% and 15% by 2027.

Since its market launch in 2024, Xiaomi Automobile has witnessed remarkable achievements. Its debut model, the SU7, and the second model, the YU7, have both delivered outstanding performances. In November, the 500,000th vehicle rolled off the production line, and the company even managed to achieve single-quarter profitability in the third quarter.

However, Xiaomi Automobile's customer base remains relatively concentrated, necessitating an expansion of its user reach. The competition within the extended-range family SUV market is intense. Nevertheless, Xiaomi's prowess in marketing and its ability to accurately identify and meet user needs are anticipated to be pivotal factors in its quest for a breakthrough.
