On December 25, BYD's Legal Department released a statement announcing the outcome of the first-instance court ruling in its legal battle against the self-media entities 'Long Ge Talks Electric Cars' and 'Man Ge Dian New Energy.' These accounts were accused of concocting and spreading misinformation. The court determined that the defendants had tarnished BYD's brand reputation and mandated that they halt their infringing activities, mitigate the adverse effects, and pay BYD a compensation sum of RMB 2 million. Li Yunfei, a top-tier executive at BYD, emphasized that while the company values and encourages objective reporting and constructive criticism, it will not stand for malicious defamation.
