Uber Technologies Inc. has declared its intention to team up with Baidu and introduce a self-driving taxi trial initiative in the United Kingdom. Earlier, Waymo, an American autonomous driving technology firm, initiated pertinent road trials in London this month, aiming for an official service rollout in 2026. Uber mentioned that it plans to launch a trial project utilizing Baidu's Apollo Go RT6 self-driving taxis in London during the first half of 2026, and is hopeful of starting regular operations in London by the end of that year. At present, the worldwide deployment of self-driving taxis is gathering pace, with Chinese enterprises like Baidu and WeRide, as well as Waymo, at the forefront of the sector.
