On December 5, BYD convened an interim shareholders' meeting in Pingshan, Shenzhen. During the session, Chairman Wang Chuanfu highlighted that BYD has experienced a downturn in its domestic sales figures this year. He identified two primary factors contributing to this trend. Firstly, he noted that BYD's technological edge has narrowed compared to prior years. The market influence of its technological advancements has diminished, and the industry is increasingly characterized by homogeneity, mirroring the typical cycles of product and technological evolution. Secondly, he pointed out that customer frustrations, exemplified by sluggish charging speeds in cold weather, still necessitate technological innovations for resolution.
Wang Chuanfu also disclosed that BYD has major technological developments on the horizon, though he refrained from sharing specifics at this juncture. He underscored that BYD's fundamental strength lies in its technological prowess and that its extensive team of 120,000 engineers will be instrumental in driving future technological breakthroughs and restoring its pioneering status in the market.
