NIO's official Weibo account dedicated to debunking rumors has issued a "Statement on the Vehicle Collision Incident in Shanghai." At approximately 1:15 PM, near Chuiyao Road in Qingpu District, Shanghai, a NIO EC6 collided with another vehicle, veered off course, and subsequently crashed at high speed into a concrete barrier on the right side of the road. This impact caused the barrier to fracture and the vehicle to sustain significant damage. NIO personnel promptly arrived at both the accident site and the hospital to offer assistance. The two occupants received immediate medical attention and are now out of critical condition. It's worth noting that the vehicle's assisted driving system was not in operation at the time of the incident. Following the collision, the doors automatically unlocked, the handles extended outward, and the power battery remained secure with no safety hazards. The police are still investigating the cause of the accident. NIO has expressed its concern for the losses and inconveniences experienced by the users, pledged to continue providing support, and committed to cooperating fully with the investigation. According to images circulating online, the vehicle collided with and broke through a roadside cement pier guardrail, with the vehicle's body splitting into two sections from the C-pillar upwards.
