On December 1, 2025, a series of graphic images depicting a severe accident involving a NIO EC6 surfaced online, quickly capturing widespread public attention. From the on-site photographs, it is evident that the EC6 collided with and shattered a roadside cement-pier guardrail, also striking a lamppost in the process. The impact caused all four tires to burst and triggered the deployment of all airbags. The vehicle suffered a catastrophic break at the C-pillar, with the high-voltage wiring harness becoming detached and various parts scattered across the ground. The scene was harrowing, to say the least. Fortunately, the vehicle did not catch fire, the passenger compartment remained structurally sound, and the driver emerged unharmed, even managing to sit calmly beside the driver's door.
It is speculated that this single-vehicle accident may have been caused by excessive speed. Additionally, the slippers worn by the woman may provide some insight into part of the accident's cause. According to data from the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, traffic accidents caused by driving while wearing slippers account for 3.2% of all annual incidents. Moreover, over 60% of accidents involving thick-soled slippers result in failed emergency braking attempts.
