On November 28, news emerged that BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. and BYD Auto Co., Ltd. had formally submitted a recall proposal to the State Administration for Market Regulation, adhering to the Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automotive Products and its corresponding enforcement guidelines. The recall, set to commence immediately, encompasses specific Qin PLUS DM-i models manufactured between September 26, 2021, and September 23, 2023, with a total of 52,890 units affected. Additionally, the recall extends to certain vehicles of the same model produced from January 7, 2021, to September 30, 2022, amounting to 36,091 units. The root cause of the recall lies in inconsistencies identified during the production of the vehicles' power battery packs. These inconsistencies may result in reduced output power of the power battery. In severe scenarios, the vehicles might be unable to operate in pure electric mode, thereby presenting a potential safety risk.
