BYD Witnesses a 206.8% Year-on-Year Surge in European Sales in October, While Tesla Sees a 48.5% Drop

In October 2025, BYD maintained its robust sales momentum in the European market, whereas Tesla continued to face a sales slump. In the combined "EU + EFTA + UK" region, BYD's new car registrations soared to 17,470 units, marking a remarkable 206.8% year-on-year increase. In contrast, Tesla's registrations tumbled to 6,964 units, reflecting a 48.5% year-on-year decline. Within the EU alone, BYD's new car registrations climbed to 13,350 units, up 195.0% year-on-year, while Tesla's registrations dipped to 5,647 units, down 48.0% year-on-year. Over the period from January to October, BYD's cumulative new car registrations in the European market surged to 138,390 units, experiencing a significant 285.0% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, Tesla's registrations for the same period stood at 180,688 units, marking a 29.6% year-on-year decrease. Furthermore, EU car registrations witnessed a 5.8% growth in October. Since the start of the year, the market share of battery electric vehicles in the EU has climbed to 16.4%, surpassing the levels of the same period last year. In the first ten months, sales of battery electric vehicles in Germany skyrocketed by 39%, and registrations of hybrid and plug-in hybrid models also saw an uptick.
