A spokesperson for Xiaomi Corporation has released a statement to dispel rumors concerning a 'fire incident on the battery production line at the Xiaomi Auto Plant.' In 2024, during the equipment commissioning phase at the plant's battery workshop, an operator's error in manual mode led to a battery pack mounted on an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) colliding with some equipment. This collision caused scratches on the battery cells, which in turn triggered a short circuit and a minor fire within the battery pack. The fire was promptly extinguished and did not escalate to other parts of the facility or result in any injuries. This incident occurred as an anomaly during the production process commissioning and does not reflect any inherent flaws in the batteries themselves. All battery packs used in Xiaomi Auto models adhere to stringent standards, and the batteries for the relevant models are fully compliant with national regulations. Additionally, the videos and images circulating about the 'display on the event wall in the battery workshop' are, in fact, problem management boards from the initial equipment commissioning, testing, and validation carried out in early 2024. The issues identified were resolved prior to the commencement of mass production. It is a common occurrence to encounter testing and adjustment issues during the initial commissioning of a new production line, and these do not affect formal production or product quality. Xiaomi urges the public to refrain from believing or disseminating unfounded rumors.
