Recently, a Xiaomi spokesperson addressed and debunked an online rumor stating that "a fire erupted on the battery production line at Xiaomi's auto factory." In 2024, during the process of commissioning and optimizing production equipment in the battery workshop of Xiaomi's auto facility, an operator made a manual adjustment mistake. This error caused a battery pack being transported by an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) to collide with the equipment. The impact led to scratches on the battery cells, which subsequently triggered a short circuit and a minor fire. However, the scale of the fire was negligible. The workshop staff responded swiftly, ensuring that the fire did not extend to other areas or result in any injuries.
Xiaomi stressed that this incident was merely an anomaly that occurred during the debugging of the production process, rather than an issue related to battery design, materials, or manufacturing. The battery packs for all Xiaomi vehicle models are developed to meet exceptionally high standards. Specifically, the batteries for the Xiaomi SU7 and Xiaomi YU7 models both comply with national standards, providing owners with peace of mind for their use.
Furthermore, in response to a video circulating simultaneously that depicted a "display wall of the battery workshop incident," Xiaomi conducted verification and confirmed that the related images originated from a problem management board used for inspection and verification during the "initial commissioning" phase of equipment in the battery workshop in early 2024. The company also assured that all issues had been resolved prior to mass production.
