On November 19th, international news outlets reported that Arizona's U.S. regulatory authorities announced on Tuesday that Tesla had been granted a license to function as a Transportation Network Company (TNC) within the state. This development marks a significant step forward for the electric vehicle manufacturer in its pursuit of expanding its self-driving taxi service offerings. Nonetheless, it's crucial to note that this TNC license does not authorize Tesla to provide autonomous ride-hailing services at this stage. Earlier, in September of the same year, Tesla received state clearance to conduct tests of autonomous vehicles, albeit with safety drivers present. In line with Arizona's regulatory framework, Tesla is now eligible to operate as a ride-hailing service provider in the state, following the acquisition of a vehicle rental operating license.
