On November 12th, reports emerged indicating that the National Cyberspace Administration, in conjunction with other departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, has initiated a rectification drive aimed at addressing online misconduct within the automotive industry. This campaign is rigorously targeting practices such as the dissemination of false information and the malicious defamation of automotive companies and their products. Several illustrative cases are as follows:

  • The Douyin account 'Dayange Talks About Cars' and the Today's Headlines account 'Dian Dian Jia Dian' have been found to post derogatory comments, engaging in the malicious defamation of a particular automotive brand and insulting its entrepreneurs.
  • The Today's Headlines account 'Gaojian Guanchao' and the WeChat official account 'Xiangshi Auto' have been implicated in fabricating and spreading false information, thereby slandering and attacking the quality of corporate products.
  • The Weibo account 'I Am Classmate Dabin' and the Douyin account 'Shitou Gaoji' have been observed aggregating negative information about enterprises, with the intent of inciting group antagonism.
  • The Weibo account 'Yichebang' and the WeChat official account 'Shudian Auto Rankings' have been found to release unverified or even fabricated automotive sales data, thereby misleading consumers.
  • The Douyin accounts 'Wangwukong Talks About Cars' and '987 Crazy Dad' were shut down due to their repeated distortion of facts and slanderous remarks regarding the performance of new energy vehicles. Notably, the operators of these accounts persisted in publishing false information by registering new accounts across multiple platforms.

All the accounts involved have been subjected to legal and contractual measures, including closure, in accordance with relevant regulations.
