On November 10, during the Wuzhen Café • Auto Evening Dialogue Forum at the 6th World Internet Conference, Feng Qingfeng, the CEO of Lotus Group, expressed his view that revisiting the debate on automotive standards marks a historical setback. He emphasized that China's ongoing discussion about whether to strictly follow automotive standards shows a lack of respect for all Chinese automotive professionals. Feng Qingfeng pointed out that automotive standards are the result of extensive practice and evolution, primarily aimed at ensuring safety. For instance, the screws used in vehicles are distinct from those in household appliances, as they must meet higher standards for rust prevention and corrosion resistance. The defect rate for automotive-grade products needs to be maintained at a level of one in a million, with a typical design lifespan exceeding 15 years or 200,000 kilometers. Moreover, these products must successfully pass AEC-Q series certifications. He highlighted that the automotive industry boasts a 140-year history of development, and the notion that 'one can proceed without adhering to automotive standards' is perplexing and signifies a regression in technological progress.
