The external world has been abuzz with ongoing speculation regarding whether the Tesla Cybercab will come fitted with a traditional steering wheel and pedals. Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, has unequivocally stated that, at least for now, the vehicle will not feature any manual control devices. This past Friday, during a podcast interview, Musk confirmed that when mass production commences in the second quarter of 2026, the Cybercab will be devoid of both a steering wheel and pedals. His rationale is rooted in the belief that manual driving will become unnecessary for the general public. Although the current test vehicles are outfitted with steering wheels and pedals, this is merely to comply with existing regulatory standards. Some enthusiasts have expressed the view that the vehicle's design seems to favor manual driving. However, Tesla's Board Chair, Robyn Denholm, has mentioned that if the need arises to incorporate a steering wheel or pedals in the future, the company will not hesitate to make those adjustments.
