On October 28, 2025, BMW China officially became a member of the national-level open-source collaborative innovation platform—the 'Open Source Innovation and Development Promotion Center.' This center is hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), and BMW China holds the distinction of being its first foreign-funded automaker member.

This strategic move underscores BMW's commitment to deepening its Localization Partnership 2.0 strategy in the era of 'software-defined vehicles.' It will expedite the deployment of BMW's intelligent and digital R&D system, while fostering the creation of an open, win-win ecosystem for automotive software development.

By leveraging the open-source ecosystem, BMW aims to develop unique brand features and seamlessly integrate premium digital ecosystem services. This will empower users with a smarter and more enjoyable driving experience.

Furthermore, with the introduction of domestically produced BMW NEUE KLASSE models in 2026, BMW is set to witness a comprehensive upgrade in its software R&D, intelligent driving technologies, and digital ecosystem within the Chinese market.
