On October 2, reports emerged indicating a significant uptick in self-drive travel during the National Day holiday, which subsequently drove a substantial surge in the demand for charging new energy vehicles. According to data from the State Grid's Smart Vehicle Internet Platform, the charging volume on the platform surpassed 10 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) on the holiday's inaugural day, marking an impressive 18% year-on-year increase and setting a fresh record. The Road Network Center of the Ministry of Transport projected that the average daily traffic volume on national expressways during the eight-day holiday would exceed 62 million vehicles, with new energy vehicles constituting nearly 20% of this total, or roughly 12.5 million vehicles per day. This represents a notable 30% year-on-year increase. In response, the National Energy Administration has proactively taken measures to accelerate the construction of high-power charging infrastructure, boost charging efficiency at expressway service areas, and guarantee that travel demands are adequately met.
