On Thursday, Baidu made a significant announcement: its autonomous driving travel service platform, Apollo Go, is gearing up to commence the commercial operation of fully driverless taxis in Dubai during the first quarter of 2026. This move comes as a result of a cooperation agreement inked with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority. Under this agreement, Baidu envisions deploying more than 1,000 driverless taxis in Dubai between late 2027 and early 2028. At present, Baidu has already stationed 50 test vehicles in specific designated zones and secured the necessary road - testing and autonomous driving permits. However, it's important to note that these test vehicles still have safety officers on board to ensure smooth operations.
