In a recent interview, Tesla's Design Director, Franz von Holzhausen, disclosed that the company is overhauling its door - handle system, which has been at the center of safety - related controversies. The revamped design aims to allow passengers to operate the doors in a more intuitive manner during emergency scenarios.

Previously, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) initiated an investigation into door - related defects in certain Tesla models. This probe encompassed around 174,000 vehicles. The NHTSA reported that since 2018, it has received more than 140 complaints concerning Tesla vehicle doors. These complaints range from doors getting jammed and being unable to open to other malfunctions. Tragically, there have also been several incidents where people were injured or even lost their lives because they couldn't open the doors due to power failures.
