On September 16, Rivian, a prominent U.S. electric vehicle (EV) maker, conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for its brand-new factory situated close to Atlanta, Georgia. This state-of-the-art facility is projected to manufacture up to 400,000 cutting-edge electric vehicles each year.

RJ Scaringe, the CEO of Rivian, was present at the ceremony, accompanied by a number of officials, among whom was Brian Kemp, the Governor of Georgia.

The construction of the factory is set to get underway in the first quarter of 2026, with the anticipation that production will commence in 2028. At present, the preliminary infrastructure work encompasses the connection to power and water supply systems, along with the construction of access roads. Rivian foresees that, once fully operational, the factory will generate 7,500 long-term local jobs and offer employment prospects for roughly 2,000 construction workers during the construction phase.
