US autonomous driving technology company Waymo has obtained permission to test its autonomous vehicles at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), paving the way for commercial operations. The San Francisco Mayor's Office announced on Tuesday that the airport and Waymo have signed a 'Testing and Operations Pilot Permit,' the result of years of negotiations between the two parties. This comes just two weeks after Waymo received approval to test at Mineta San Jose International Airport.
