On September 15th (local time), the Trump administration in the United States revealed that, in line with the U.S.-Japan bilateral trade pact, the import tariff on Japanese automobiles would be reduced to 15%, effective from 0:01 a.m. Eastern Time on September 16th. Prior to this, following several rounds of negotiations, both parties had clinched a trade deal. Citing data from Japan's Ministry of Finance, due to the impact of the previous tariff policy, Japan's automobile exports to the U.S. witnessed a year-on-year decline for three consecutive months from April to June this year.
