Recently, Wes Morrill, Tesla's lead engineer for the Cybertruck, disclosed that the company has officially scrapped plans to develop wireless charging capabilities for this model. Earlier, Tesla had showcased a prototype of a home wireless charging station and even made a brief acquisition of a startup focused on wireless charging technology. However, the project was ultimately shelved due to concerns over efficiency.

Morrill explained that the Cybertruck's high ground clearance creates an excessively large gap between the ground-based transmitter and the onboard receiver, leading to a significant drop in charging efficiency. Moreover, the ground base station would need to be constructed at a height exceeding 15 centimeters, which would undermine its practicality in real-world use. Additionally, wireless charging technology inherently has limitations in terms of efficiency. Given the Cybertruck's relatively sluggish sales performance, it would be challenging to justify the investment required to support the development of wireless charging, as achieving a reasonable return on investment seems unlikely.
