On September 10th, Bloomberg reported, drawing on sources with inside knowledge, that BYD is set to ramp up its investment in the Indian market. The company is also poised to introduce a new, cost-effective model in the early part of next year. With travel restrictions to India being relaxed, Zhang Jie, the General Manager of BYD India, is anticipated to make a trip to India in the upcoming months. His itinerary includes an initial meeting with officials from the Indian federal government in New Delhi, followed by an inspection of BYD's passenger vehicle manufacturing facility. Sources further disclosed that a number of BYD engineers have recently received approval to travel to India, and that senior executives at the vice-president level are expected to do the same in the near future.
