On September 3, Li Bin, Chairman of NIO, officially acknowledged the partnership with McLaren, a renowned British supercar brand, and disclosed that the company's second-quarter technical service revenue had surged to hundreds of millions of yuan. According to NIO's financial report for the second quarter of 2025, the company's other sales recorded a year-on-year increase of 62.6% and a quarter-on-quarter growth of 37.1%, totaling 2.8726 billion yuan. Li Bin emphasized that NIO has exported certain technologies to McLaren, contributing significantly to the company's external technical service revenue, albeit in a nascent and fluctuating stage.
Under the terms of their collaboration agreement, NIO is tasked with developing a powertrain system tailored for McLaren, leveraging the 4680 large cylindrical battery. This advanced system is anticipated to enter small-scale production by 2026. Furthermore, NIO has resumed research and development efforts on the 46105 large cylindrical battery. Additionally, the new holding group resulting from the merger of McLaren and Forseven will incorporate NIO's autonomous driving and battery swapping technologies, while maintaining its commitment to independently developing the complete vehicle architecture.
