A report by CITIC Securities anticipates that global shipments of eSIM-enabled mobile phones will surge to roughly 300 million units by 2024, marking a penetration rate of approximately 25%. Notably, from May to July 2023, China's three major telecommunications operators temporarily halted the eSIM watch one-number dual-terminal service due to routine maintenance and upgrades. Nonetheless, as reported by China Business Daily, China Unicom has spearheaded the resumption of this service across 25 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions, including Beijing.
Looking ahead, the escalating demand for thinner, waterproof, and dustproof consumer electronics, coupled with the growing appetite for "one-number multi-terminal" services, augurs well for a continued uptick in eSIM market demand.
