On February 26, Indonesia's Industry Minister revealed that Indonesia and Apple have inked a series of agreements, paving the way for Apple to obtain approval for the sale of iPhone 16 in Indonesia in the near future. However, the Minister refrained from disclosing the precise timeline for issuing the necessary content certificates that would facilitate these sales. Additionally, the accord encompasses the establishment of manufacturing facilities and R&D centers within Indonesian territory. Last year, Indonesia imposed a ban on the sale of iPhone 16 due to Apple's non-compliance with local production requirements for components. Apple can now adhere to these regulations by collaborating with local partners or sourcing components domestically. Notably, while Apple does not operate a production plant in Indonesia, it has been fostering local tech talent through a developer academy since 2018.
