Apple has inked an agreement with the Indonesian government, pledging a $1 billion investment to facilitate the resumption of iPhone 16 sales in Indonesia. Indonesian Minister of Industry Agus made this announcement on February 26, confirming that both parties have come to a mutual understanding on the matter. Prior to this, Indonesia had imposed a ban on the sale of iPhone 16 due to Apple's non-compliance with local manufacturing regulations. The investment will primarily go towards the construction of a factory on Batam Island, Indonesia, specifically for the production of AirTags. Additionally, it is anticipated that research and development facilities, as well as accessory factories, will also be established.
