Hu Xinxin, the product manager for REDMI, has announced that memory costs have witnessed a significant surge over the past 12 months, escalating by approximately 5.5 times. Specifically, the price for memory with a 12+256 configuration is nearing the 2,000 yuan mark, posing challenges for configuring mobile phone products. Last night, REDMI unveiled the K100, disclosing the recommended retail prices for various configurations, along with limited-time Double 11 promotional offers and national subsidy discounts. Insider sources indicate that, due to the high costs and losses incurred on new devices, certain mobile phone or tablet product lines may face discontinuation. Since the beginning of the year, several manufacturers have already announced discontinuations or adjustments to their product portfolios. For instance, Meizu has halted its self-developed hardware projects for new domestic mobile phone products, realme is redirecting its focus towards overseas markets and has paused updates in China, and OnePlus is primarily concentrating on the Chinese market while postponing new product launches in Europe and the United States.
