Prior to Apple’s anticipated launch of the new MacBook Pro on October 28, insiders from the industry have disclosed that the device will feature an enhanced, state-of-the-art hinge mechanism. This improvement is speculated to be tied to Apple’s roadmap for its upcoming second- and third-generation iPhone Duo foldable smartphones. The new MacBook Pro will mark Apple’s inaugural foray into touchscreen support, with an expected unveiling on either October 27 or 28, and sales commencing on November 6. It will be the first in the Mac lineup to incorporate touchscreen and OLED display technologies, potentially showcasing a “Dynamic Island” design, transitioning from a “notch” to a “punch-hole” screen. The model will come in 14-inch and 16-inch variants, powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, with the possibility of direct upgrades to M7 Pro and M7 Max chips in the future. Moreover, it might integrate Apple’s self-developed C-series 5G cellular baseband chip, making it the first Mac product to offer cellular network support. This OLED touchscreen iteration could be marketed as a premium option alongside the existing Mini LED models. Apple positions the touch functionality as “touch-friendly, not touch-first,” maintaining indirect input as the core interaction method while touch serves as a complementary feature.
