Apple has incorporated Google's SynthID invisible watermarking technology into its iOS 27.2 system. This cutting-edge technology is capable of embedding markers at the pixel level within AI-generated images and videos, all without compromising the quality of the visuals. Moreover, it boasts robust resistance to common post-processing techniques, including cropping, filtering, and compression. Notably, the iPhone itself does not come equipped with a detection tool for these watermarks; instead, users are required to utilize the SynthID Detector website to confirm their presence. Every image produced by Image Playground, along with those that have been expanded or recomposed using the Photos app, will bear this invisible watermark. The cleanup feature within the Photos app only applies a watermark when the editing is substantial.
