DJI has introduced a specialized escrow service tailored for consumer drones registered to individuals in Beijing. The application window for this service opened at 2:00 PM on October 26 and will conclude at 8:00 PM on November 14. It's important to note that users must dispatch their drones before midnight on November 14. Additionally, outdated models that are no longer supported by DJI are not eligible for this escrow arrangement.
The escrow service encompasses a range of offerings, including secure storage for both drones and their accessories, convenient pickup and return shipping, battery recharging, thorough device inspection, and regular after-sales maintenance. Upon receiving a drone, DJI will conduct a warehousing inspection within seven days. Only drones in good working order can be directly stored, while those requiring repairs must undergo necessary fixes before being accepted into escrow.
If the drone's information is successfully verified by the relevant authorities and the physical serial number (SN) matches the registration details, users can enjoy up to one year of complimentary escrow service. This includes one round-trip shipping service. However, for drones that fail verification, a fee equivalent to one year's escrow service will be charged at the standard rate of 199 RMB per drone.
To apply for escrow or to arrange for subsequent pickup of drones, users are required to obtain the necessary procedures through DJI's online customer service. Prior to shipment, DJI will allocate an additional 5 to 7 working days to inspect the drone's condition. Users are advised to plan their pickup times in advance, especially during peak periods.
It's worth noting that the pickup or return destination for escrowed drones is restricted to areas outside Beijing within mainland China. Drones cannot be shipped back to Beijing. Once a user avails themselves of the pickup or return service, the current escrow process comes to an end. Should they wish to utilize the escrow service again in the future, they will be required to repay the standard fee of 199 RMB per drone.
