On October 23, sources indicated that Samsung Electronics is poised to take advantage of the Indian government's recently introduced mobile phone manufacturing incentive program to ramp up the export volume of its India-produced mobile phones. This program is designed to offer enhanced subsidies for new export activities. In light of this, Samsung is contemplating an expansion of its production capabilities in India, which may involve further investment. Should the global mobile phone market persist in its contraction, driven by the soaring costs of memory chips, Samsung might opt to relocate a portion of its manufacturing operations from countries such as Vietnam to India.
