According to Bloomberg, Anika Wells, Australia's Communications Minister, stated that the Australian government is preparing to sue digital platforms such as Facebook and TikTok, accusing them of failing to comply with a nationwide social media ban targeting minors under the age of 16. The ban, which takes effect in December 2025, prohibits minors under 16 from using social media, with platforms facing fines of up to AUD 109.2 million if they fail to take reasonable measures to prevent minors from using their services. Despite this, a significant number of minors continue to bypass supervision (replace with "supervision" in the actual translation) by falsifying their ages and other means.
