On October 14, the latest research findings from Omdia indicated that in the third quarter of 2026, smartphone shipments in the Chinese mainland market totaled around 59.3 million units. This represents a 12% year-on-year decline, hitting the lowest point for the same period since 2013. The soaring storage costs have acted as a deterrent to demand. Notably, Huawei and Apple emerged as the frontrunners, jointly commanding a 41% share of the market, while other smartphone vendors grappled with mounting pressure. On an annual basis, shipments are projected to decrease by roughly 7% compared to the previous year.
