Details have emerged regarding the camera specifications and certain intelligent recognition features of Apple's inaugural smart home hub with a screen, the HomeView. The device is rumored to incorporate a Sony IMX614 image sensor, boasting around 11.3 million effective pixels. This sensor enables photo capture at corresponding resolutions and video recording at both 30 and 60 frames per second (FPS). Beyond facilitating video calls, the camera is capable of recognizing various objects, including human bodies, faces, hands, cats, and dogs. It supports cross-video-frame human body tracking, and its 3D face tracking functionality can precisely identify facial position, rotation angles, and expression changes. Additionally, the camera encompasses features such as motion wake-up, distance detection, and light source estimation, thereby broadening the spectrum of interaction methods.

However, it is noteworthy that the device does not appear to support infrared sensors or Face ID facial authentication. The HomeView can intelligently display personalized information, such as schedules and reminders, by recognizing different family members. The device is anticipated to feature a roughly 6-inch square touchscreen, powered by an A18 chip and equipped with 8GB of memory. It will be offered in two configurations: a desktop version and a wall-mounted version. The desktop variant comes complete with a speaker base, while the wall-mounted option can be affixed to walls, enabling users to centrally manage their smart home devices.

From a software perspective, the HomeView is built around an enhanced AI-driven Siri, which supports voice control of various smart devices and integrates functionalities such as FaceTime video calls, calendar reminders, music playback, and home security monitoring.
