According to the latest preliminary data from the International Data Corporation (IDC), global PC shipments in the third quarter of 2026 reached 62.7 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 20.1%. This marks the second consecutive quarter of decline, with the drop significantly widening from the 3.8% decrease in the second quarter. Sequentially, shipments in the third quarter decreased by 9.1%, breaking the usual pattern of stronger performance in the third quarter compared to the second. Ongoing supply-side constraints, coupled with the fact that manufacturers and channel partners concentrated on stockpiling inventory earlier this year ahead of price increases, led to an early depletion of demand, leaving little room for demand release in the third quarter.
