As of September 30, 2026, Google has rolled out Android developer verification safeguards in Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand. These measures apply to certified devices operating on Android 8 and later versions. Initially, the policy encompasses apps distributed through Google Play, Samsung Galaxy Store, Honor AppMarket, OPPO App Store, Xiaomi GetApps, vivo App Store, and TECNO Palm Store. Under this new system, only apps registered by authenticated developers will be eligible for direct installation or updates; unverified apps will face restrictions. Google intends to progressively expand this verification mandate to encompass all certified Android devices across the globe, starting from 2027.
