Based on the latest data released by IDC, the global shipments of smart glasses soared to 3.547 million units in the second quarter of 2026, marking a significant year-on-year increase of 35.3%. A detailed analysis reveals that shipments of audio and audio-recording glasses surged to 2.494 million units, up by 54% year-on-year. Meanwhile, AR/ER glasses shipments reached 505,000 units, reflecting a robust year-on-year growth of 75.7%. However, VR/MR headset shipments experienced a decline, reaching 548,000 units, down by 23.3% year-on-year.
In the first half of 2026, the cumulative global shipments of smart glasses amounted to 7.114 million units, exhibiting a remarkable year-on-year increase of 70.5%. This round of growth was predominantly fueled by products in the form of glasses, with the market structure shifting towards more advanced and intelligent directions.
