A Reddit user shared their experience of encountering black screens on their RTX 5090 Founders Edition (FE) graphics card when subjected to high loads. After sending the card to NVIDIA for after-sales service, they were informed, approximately a month later, that their warranty claim had been rejected. The official reason cited was the significant fading of the graphics card's serial number. The user clarified that they had not tampered with the graphics card's casing and could produce both the original packaging box and the invoice as proof of purchase. Moreover, the online customer service chatbot had earlier suggested that warranty verification could be carried out using the original packaging and proof of purchase in cases where the serial number was illegible. Additionally, several other internet users reported similar issues with the serial numbers on their RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 FE Founders Edition graphics cards fading, with some also facing warranty claim rejections as a result.
