Overseas social media users have reported an alarming issue: their PNY-branded RTX 5090 graphics cards have suffered severe melting of the 16-pin power connector, even when running low-intensity games like Crypt of the NecroDancer—and without any overclocking. When the affected user sought warranty service, PNY rejected the claim, citing the use of "non-original cables." This left the user with no choice but to foot the repair bill themselves, amounting to roughly $180.
This isn't an isolated incident. Similar failures have been reported across graphics cards from multiple brands, pointing to possible design flaws in the 16-pin power connector. To date, no manufacturer has offered a comprehensive solution, and user skepticism continues to rise.
