Last week, when Apple unveiled the new Mac Studio, featuring the powerful M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips, its initial press release indicated that the device employed a cutting-edge solid-state drive (SSD) architecture grounded in PCIe Gen 6 technology. However, eagle-eyed French blog MacGeneration observed that this particular statement was swiftly removed shortly after the press release's publication. Presently, the press release simply retains the mention of a "new-generation SSD architecture" and highlights that storage speeds have been enhanced up to twice as fast, omitting any explicit reference to PCIe 6.0. Apple has remained tight-lipped on this issue thus far. Yet, a thorough analysis suggests that this alteration was probably a mistake in the press release. After all, the same line of MacBook Pro already utilizes PCIe 5.0 and boasts doubled storage speeds. Moreover, currently, there are no PCIe 6.0 SSDs available in the consumer PC market.
