Based on data sourced from the China Trade Remedy Information Network, on August 28, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) announced its decision to commence a Section 337 investigation concerning certain mobile devices. These devices are outfitted with hardware and software designed for the exchange of electronic content. Earlier, on July 28, 2026, GG Technologies, a US-based company headquartered in Santa Monica, California (operating under the name StayTouch), submitted a petition to the ITC requesting a Section 337 investigation. The petition claimed that the relevant products infringe upon its US-registered patent, numbered 12,022,369. Consequently, GG Technologies sought the issuance of a limited exclusion order and a cease and desist order. Among the respondents named in the case is Apple Inc., which is based in Cupertino, California. The ITC is set to determine the conclusion date of the investigation within 45 days from the case's initiation. As per regulations, remedial orders issued by the ITC in Section 337 cases become effective on the date of their issuance and are considered final 60 days post-issuance, unless vetoed by the US Trade Representative due to policy considerations.
