On August 27 local time, it was reported that Google has agreed to pay £260 million (approximately $354 million) to settle a UK class-action lawsuit. The lawsuit accuses Google of abusing its market dominance by charging high commissions to app developers. The plaintiffs and their lawyers stated that the Competition Appeal Tribunal will hold a hearing in September to consider whether to approve the settlement agreement. Since August 2018, UK-registered app developers who distribute apps and sell digital content through the Play Store and have not opted out are eligible for potential compensation.
