According to the latest figures released by Omdia, the global shipments of wearable wristband devices witnessed a 2% year-on-year decline in the second quarter of 2026. However, beneath this overall trend, there was a notable divergence in consumer demand patterns. Specifically, smartwatch shipments experienced a 6% uptick, propelled by the soaring popularity of high-end sports models. Meanwhile, the market also saw robust performance from new screen-free basic fitness bands, as consumers gravitated towards minimalist or highly functional sports watches. During this same period, Huawei emerged as the leader in the wearable wristband device market, capturing an 18% market share—a 1 percentage point increase from the second quarter of 2025. This achievement can be attributed to Huawei's relentless expansion of its wearable product portfolio, including the global rollout of its flagship children's smartwatch.
