The International Data Corporation (IDC) has unveiled its quarterly tracking report on China’s tablet market for the second quarter of 2026. According to the report, shipments in the Chinese tablet market totaled 7.96 million units during this period, reflecting a 4.4% decrease compared to the same quarter in the previous year. Although the rate of decline has marginally slowed from that observed in the first quarter, market pressures have not subsided; instead, they have intensified further. The growth observed in the commercial market was primarily driven by front-loading of demand in anticipation of price increases. In contrast, the consumer market experienced a significant 9.8% year-on-year decline, influenced by factors such as escalating costs and the premature fulfillment of demand. Despite the slight narrowing of the overall market decline, the rising costs are increasingly being passed on to the demand side, exacerbating the challenges faced by the market.
