As reported by The Elec, a South Korean media source, LG Display is in the process of developing a five-layer stacked OLED panel specifically tailored for Apple's forthcoming iMac. This innovative panel is composed of three blue, one red, and one green light-emitting layers. By incorporating an additional blue light-emitting layer, it aims to boost brightness and effectively reduce the risk of burn-in. Although LG's prior four-layer stacked offerings successfully met color gamut standards, they lagged behind in brightness and image retention capabilities. The adoption of this five-layer stacking technology is anticipated for future iMac models, with a potential introduction date as early as 2029.
